Your Home Assessment

Your BPI-certified contractor uses the latest building science to analyze your home. Your assessment may include some or all of the following:

A blower door test that forces air into your home, revealing air leaks in walls, ceilings, windows, doors and floors.
An infrared camera test that peers behind your walls to find air and insulation leaks.
A duct pressure test to identify leaks in your heating and cooling duct system.
A combustion appliances test to detect carbon monoxide or natural gas leaks and to measure efficiency of heating equipment.

The results of your home assessment will help the contractor determine which upgrades will improve your home's comfort and save you the most.

Upgrades You Can Expect

Every home is different, and your suggested upgrades will be custom to you. But here are some recommendations that are frequently made after a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR assessment:

Home Performance Rebates

As a comprehensive, whole-house approach, there are a number of rebates available through the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program. Your contractor will walk you through the program, explain eligible upgrades to you and submit your application - all you have to do is enjoy your comfortable home and look for your rebate check to arrive.

Please Note: Home Performance with ENERGY STAR rebates are available for Consumers Energy residential natural gas and/or electric customers. Participants must be Consumers Energy electric customers who have either electric heat or central air conditioning, or natural gas customers with central gas furnaces or gas boilers. Participant homeowners must use an active participating contractor in the Consumers Energy Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program. Single-family dwellings, including condominiums and townhouses, must be individually owned and metered for natural gas and/or electricity. This offer is not valid for new additions, garages, enclosed porches, new construction homes, multiple rental units managed or owned by a third party, mobile homes or commercial properties or otherwise approved by Consumers Energy.
